Frozen Baby Carrots

Frozen baby carrots are small, uniformly cut carrots that mimic immature carrots, blanched and individually quick-frozen (IQF) without vinegar or acetic acid. They are prepared and preserved by freezing, which is a process other than those specified in Chapter 7, 8, or 11, and thus fall under tariff item 2004.90.11 as baby carrots of a length not exceeding 11 cm.

Import Tips & Compliance

• Ensure the carrots are uniformly cut to a length not exceeding 11 cm and are frozen, as this determines classification under 2004.90.11

• Declare the product as 'baby carrots' on the CBSA import documents and provide a product specification sheet if requested

• Verify that no vinegar or acetic acid is used in preparation, as that would change the tariff classification
