ACS Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced Drake Cable from Mexico
Drake ACSR is a bare stranded conductor with aluminum strands surrounding a steel core, used for high-voltage overhead power distribution lines without insulation. Classified under HTS 7614.90.20 for uninsulated aluminum electrical conductors not fitted with fittings. The aluminum wires are not alloyed and dominate the cross-section for conductivity.

Import Tips
• Document steel core as reinforcement only, with aluminum providing conduction to stay in 7614; include engineering specs per ASTM B498
• Pitfall: composite nature may trigger scrutiny for Chapter 73 steel classification if steel predominates
