Mecasermin (Recombinant IGF-1) from Japan
Mecasermin is recombinant insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), a structural analogue closely related to the somatotropin/IGF-1 axis used in severe primary IGF-1 deficiency. While IGF-1 mediates somatotropin effects, its classification follows chapter notes for hormone analogues. HTS 2937.11.00.00 includes such polypeptide hormones used primarily in growth regulation.
