Catechol, also known as pyrocatechol, is a dihydric phenol used in photography, dyes, and antioxidants. Classified in HTS 2907.29.90.00 as other polyphenols, it has adjacent hydroxyl groups on benzene ring. Industrial applications include rubber antioxidants and electroplating.
