Isoprene (2-Methyl-1,3-Butadiene) Petroleum Grade from Japan

Petroleum-derived isoprene (C5H8) is a conjugated diene unsaturated hydrocarbon extracted from C5 fractions of petroleum cracking. HTS 2901.29.10 covers this as an other unsaturated acyclic hydrocarbon from petroleum, not the first four alkenes. Primary use in synthetic rubber (IR, SBR) production.

Import Tips

Provide refinery C5 stream analysis confirming isoprene content and petroleum origin

Polymerization inhibitor certificates required; uninhibited isoprene poses runaway reaction risk

Classify as UN 1218; ensure refrigerated transport below 20°C to prevent spontaneous polymerization
