Except for products described in headings 9903.03.02–9903.03.11, articles the product of any country, as provided for in subdivision (aa) of U.S. note 2 to this subchapter
Products classified under HTS 2620.40.00
Aluminum Smelter Bauxite Residue
Red mud residue generated from the Bayer process in aluminum production, containing mainly aluminum compounds along with iron oxides and trace metals. Classified under HTS 2620.40.00 as slag and residues containing mainly aluminum, used in industry for metal extraction or chemical compound production. Excludes residues from iron or steel manufacture.
Alumina Refinery Spent Pot Lining Residue
Carbonaceous residue from electrolytic reduction cells in aluminum smelting, rich in aluminum compounds, fluorides, and cyanides. Falls under HTS 2620.40.00 due to predominant aluminum content and industrial use in metal recovery or chemical manufacturing. Not from iron/steel processes.
Aluminum Dross Residue
Skimmed oxide-rich residue from molten aluminum recycling or secondary production, primarily aluminum oxide with trapped metals. HTS 2620.40.00 applies as it contains mainly aluminum and is used industrially for recovery. Distinguished from iron/steel slag.
Bayer Process Red Mud Slag
Alkaline iron-aluminum residue from digesting bauxite ore in alumina production, with significant aluminum hydroxides. Classified in HTS 2620.40.00 for its main aluminum content and use in metal/compound recovery industries. Excludes steel-making byproducts.
Secondary Aluminum Salt Slag
Chloride/sodium flux residue from rotary furnace aluminum recycling, laden with aluminum particulates and oxides. HTS 2620.40.00 covers this mainly aluminum-containing industrial residue for metal reclamation. Not iron/steel derived.
Aluminum Anode Butt Residue
Carbon residue from consumed pre-bake anodes in aluminum electrolysis, coated with aluminum compounds and bath materials. Under HTS 2620.40.00 as mainly aluminum-containing, for industrial metal or chemical recovery.
