Plastic coated aramid fabric is an aramid fibre fabric, which is a man-made fibre, coated with plastic for protective gear, meeting the criteria of chapter note 2 for heading 59.03. The plastic layer is visible to the naked eye and the product remains flexible. It provides high strength for ballistic and fire-resistant applications, and is classified under tariff item 5903.90.20.

• Confirm the plastic coating is visible to the naked eye and the product passes the flexibility test at 15-30°C, per chapter note 2
• Provide the CBSA with the man-made fibre content, noting that aramid is a polyamide, to support classification under 5903.90.20
• If the fabric is cut and made into protective gear, it may be classified in Chapter 62 or 63 as a made-up article
