Lactide (L,L-Dilactide) from Japan
Lactide (L,L-Dilactide) is the cyclic dimer ester of lactic acid, formed by the intramolecular esterification of two lactic acid molecules. As a derivative of lactic acid, it is classified in the same subheading as lactic acid under Chapter 29 Subheading Note 1. It is used as a monomer precursor for polylactic acid (PLA) bioplastic production.
