A 6-inch epi-ready undoped gallium arsenide wafer has a polished surface for direct epitaxial deposition in high-frequency electronics production. Although gallium arsenide is an inorganic compound, wafers cut into discs are excluded from Chapter 28 by Chapter Note 8. Such wafers are classified under heading 3818 as semiconductor wafers.
